SCAA Cupping & Q Grader Exam - July 2012 was created by Ducatikid
Good Morning coffee enthusiasts!!

I am a Canadian resident looking to organize an impromptu SCAA Cupping Advanced Course & Q Grader Exam starting July 16th, 2012. In order for this course to go ahead we will need 5 more Cuppers on board.

I will clarify that I am not an SCAA Instructor, I'm not selling the course, I am not affiliated with the staff or facility offering the course, nor are there any special discounts rated being offered... I am only one Canadian reaching out to other people who are interested in attending a program to get SCAA Q Grader Exam in July. Im just trying to get us all organized and in one location come July 16th, 2012.

Originally this course is an intensive 5 day course. But in this special case an extra 6th day is being afforded to us. This is a great opportunity for small class room interaction and the extra day to prepare for examination doesn't hurt either! :)

A great way to start the summer and build-up a coffee education!!

Colin,

I think it is a great opportunity too, I have been pluggin away trying to get the word out...

The SCAA Training and the Roasting Course mentioned above would take place in Vermont.

I have also received a reply from a second Instructor, this one on the West Coast, who can do the same 6 day SCAA course same date July 16-21, and I have located a Roasting course available July 23-25 in the area as well.

So it seems both sides of the country are covered...As I am traveling long distances and can not afford too much time off, I have to keep my options open. So I have made contacts on either coast. Each classes availability is dependent on getting the full class of students.

Can I ask which Coast/Roasting class do you lean towards?

I am totally West Coast -- available for participation in Victoria/Vancouver/Seattle/Portland -- would even consider San Francisco.

I'm leaning towards West Coast myself too...maybe a congratulatory stop off in the Napa Valley for 'job well done' :).

The SCAA 'Q' Grader Exam in Cali, but it is just outside of Los Angeles in Simi Valley, July 16-21.
The Roasting Course is in San Fran, July 23-35. (45 mins from Napa Valley)

This allows a day to hop on a bus, rent a car etc, to get to San Fran. Quick jump from Simi Valley to i5 takes 10-15 minutes, then it is 5 hours on to San Francisco on the I5.

I'm looking into lodging close to the roasting course, maybe a place with a pool.

I know you were hoping as far as San Fran, but does the SCAA Exam in Simi Valley Spoil the Trip?
I could not find and instructor in Seattle, Portland Area. (I love Portland and their food scene).

Cheers!
BM
