I bought this odd-looking coffee maker at a Value Village in Victoria, BC and had no idea until today what a prize I'd found for $15. I am completely shocked. I would like to try it out but the safety valve is stuck and I think that's why someone turfed it (the plastic grip-teeth on the valve have broken off). From what I have read on this site, the only place I can find a replacement valve is Australia (please confirm if you can) but I still have to remove the valve unit. Any tricks or ideas would be very much appreciated. And, could someone tell me what the purpose of the sealed opening on the front of the bottom of the unit is? It looks like you should be able to open it with a square-shaped key of some kind. Is it for cleaning the unit?
Thanks very much.
The safety valve is part of the big bad black knob! There are a few ways to unscrew it in the guest archives. Hunt for them please.

Go to Atomic 101....
NEVER, do not, don't touch that flat screw with the square "hole" at the bottom!
It is to remove the sand core.....too long to explain.
Read all about the Atomic in these pages. Please try to be more explicit when describing the different parts. Thank you, FrEdErIcK
