I have been watching the cafe scene in Victoria since the mid-seventies... I know, since before some of my most loyal readers were born.

We are in an interesting time now - there are more jobs than people - and the economy is on shaky ground. If anyone has a dream of living and working on Vancouver Island, now is the time.

This joint is jumping. If anyone wants some suggestions or referrals to what's up - send me an e-mail or comment in the forum.

I'm moving back to Victoria in 2 weeks and thought I'd do some online scouting for great coffee shops before I arrive (I found a couple when I visited this summer, so I knew that there were great ones to be found. . .I love Starbucks, which is basically all we have here in Dallas, Texas, but find it to be a bit boring afterwhile). Looks like I found the mother load of info about coffee and places to get it in Victoria! Unexpectedly, it looks like I might also have stumbled across a good source of employment leads (who knew my love affair with coffee might lead me to my next great job?). :) My Victoria friends have told me that it is a job seekers market right now, but I wondered if they were just trying to encourage me. But your forum post has given me further encouragement. I'm a jack of all trades, master of some. Lived overseas for 15 years as a missionary, was a homeschooling mom for 11 years when I lived in Victoria. Have done mainly accounting for the past 8 years in Texas, but in Victoria, I'd loved to be more involved with people than computers if possible. Any and all help with suggestions of where to search, or referrals of openings that you are aware of would be greatly appreciated.

Tell me what you really want to do, and I will give you some suitable tips.

The current rule is: If you are not employed within one hour of trying... in Victoria B.C. Canada - you are lacking a pulse or a personality.

Dallas to Victoria...

what a switch!
