Which grinder for Rancilio Silvia was created by fulgenzio
I have a Starbucks Barista burr grinder. I plan to buy a Rancilio Silvia. Will my grinder be good enough?

I got the Rancilio Siilvia and the Rocky grinder a little over a year ago. I love both. I find the grinder to be way better than my son's Baratza Virtuoso (similar to the Starbucks grinder) although I do also believe that the Virtuoso would suffice - but the Rocky has that great solidity and is much quieter.

You will love the Silvia.

Thanks for the info. I kind of figured my grinder would be past its limit with the Silvia.

And I wanted to know if the doser comes off the Rocky easily so I can grind coffee for the drip coffeemaker; does it?

No.

I use the Rocky for my drip needs...

and I just "dose" into a small bowl and then pour the ground coffee into the filter.

Neat and tidy!

And I have the Rocky doserless. With it you can grind directly into whatever - portafilter basket, paper filter, any filter that is removable from the pot. So if you aren't entertaining and only pulling minimal cups you might like the doserless.
