Here is your chance to offer discussion, opinion, accolades, congratulations, kudos and "make beef"...

Voting was lively at something just under 200 votes.

Beef: I expected more voting and actual voting for the story.

Kudos: The front-runners won based on actual votes and although many of the voters were people that did not actually read any of the stories (probably in about 45% of the cases...)

Beef: There were few rules so those with the largest social networking power ruled the day.

Kudos: Voting was clean and apart from 10 or 11 votes coming from one physical computer address or subnet (could have been in an office, lab or behind a firewall...), every vote was counted.

Accolades: We actually had some high-powered writing judges on board in the event that we needed some professional critiquing in the event of a complete failure of the system. And they included folks who wrote for CSI Las Vegas, Buffy Vampire Slayer and some newspaper columnists and humorists.

Opinion: Will I do this again? Most definitely - with some different conditions. Am I going to do this again soon. You bet.

So the winner gets OTTO. The 2nd place person gets an Aeropress and an EspressoParts.com T-shirt. I am working on something very special for all contestants. So, in short... everyone wins.

Note: This is a good opportunity for people to express their beefs and opinions, etc. No holds barred - but be nice and no picking on anyone!

Hey All,

I just wanted to say that the "Win Otto" contest was a fantastic little event, and I have to hand it to everyone who wrote in with their tale of how coffee had impacted and caffienated their lives. I enjoyed all of your stories and even have a couple of personal favorites. Congratulations to the winner! Please be sure to write in once again and tell us all how life with Otto has enhanced your coffee experience.

All the best,

Scott

Scott: I changed the HUGE pic you uploaded as your avatar to something SMALLER that did not tear the page apart...

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Congratulations to Cheryl for the OTTO win, and to all the
entrants. I was suprised at how entertaining the stories were. Well done everyone. Look
forward to the next contest, poll, or whatever.

Beefs? Woulda been great if my silly little story had been added. Sure would have liked at least a shot at it.

Bugger.

I am positive that your story was received well before the "Win OTTO" story series was launched.

Check the date stamp on when you sent it -

Unless the subject header contained "Win OTTO" or "Contest Story Entry", there is no way that it could have been considered.

We had this conversation via e-mail a week ago.

Again. I apologize... but timing is everything.

Hey Colin and Crew

Thanks for the opportunity to share stories about coffee and those who make it happen and a chance to write a story about something that fuels our day, tickles our tastes, stimulates, stimulates, stimulates and stimulates in ways that we sometimes don't quite comprehend as we try to separate the wheat from the chaff and try to take the stimulating, stimulating, stimulating aspects of the mighty bean and yet temper the energy and excitement of the moment, and I mean the moment of drinking and the moment of tasting and the moment of stimulation, stimulation, stimulation...to carry over and to muddle what should be a series of coherent, insightful and maybe even brilliant individual moments and blur them into a symphony of life pluses that while stimulating, stimulating and stimulating are also fraught with the potential for the slide into the almost imperceptible but still perceptible of incomprehension and the loss of one's senses of what is good taste and what is drivel or worse what is forgotten in the pursuit of the most intimate and, did I say stimulating aspect of the thought that just can't make it through into lucidity but which .....
