Hi Coffee Gurus!

I'm Kingston, Jamaica right now, just came back from a trip to the Blue Mountain Peak and after a few cups of the Blue Mountain Coffee - I really want to buy the best one for my family and friends.

Could you advise me which company to choose? Is the coffee I get in a supermarket the genuine Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee?

  • High Mountain
  • Wallenrod Blue
  • Gold Cup
  • Jablum
  • Mountain Peak

Should I maybe buy directly from the plantations?

And I would most certainly like to judge a sample!

At some point I am going to do a series on all the online coffee fakers that are proliferating EBay and various web-sites.

Gourmet coffee, online, is probably about 25% fake at this point... Oh yea... the Colinator plans to blow the roof off of this scam.

I just got back from Mavis Bank and bought 35 lbs. of Blue Mountain Coffee directly from an Estate farm - Whitfield Hall. I sampled it a week ago - in my humble opinion it's perfect, just what I was looking for.

It's a pity that people actually pay top dollar for fake blends of something that is of such quality.

There are a couple of vendors on ebay that claim to offer 100% certified JBM, Govt seal and all. One of them is Gold Star Coffee, Inc of Canada and appears to be a reputable firm. Do you have any 'scoop' on the validity of this offer and the whys and wherefors of the price?

The only way to find out is to ask them for a Government confirmation document. They should have it if the coffee is originally from Blue Mountains, Jamaica.
