Brewtus II Diffuser problem

I decided to clean my E61 grouphead, screen and gaskets today on my Brewtus II. I wanted to see how the water came out of the diffuser so I turned the machine on. To my surprise the water didn't come out of the diffuser but came out of the fitting around the diffuser! Is the diffuser screw plugged? Is it another problem? Thanks for any help you can provide.
