La Pavoni plastic lining ??? was created by Nick
from the unmentionable guy's review of La Pavoni Professional:

\"the group is now lined with a nylon sleeve made of ryton, effectively placing a vacuum barrier between the water and metal wall\"

Does that mean 195 degree water is sitting in plastic??? yuck. The other thing I'm starting to worry about is the unmentionable guy says there's degradation after pulling the first shot due to increasing temperature requiring clumsy cooling tricks like wrapping it in ice cold cloths, etc. Inability to pull 3 consistent double shots is a definite deal breaker for me. Color me disappointed.

I like this \"Unmentionable Guy\" schtick...

Makes me... feel... good somehow.

Keep it up.

This is why I hate most super-auto's...
cause the water touches so much plastic
on the way from the plastic water tank to the
plastic coffee spout through the largely plastic brew group.

If I could tell you one thing: follow my la Pavoni review and buy with confidence.

I love these units.

too late! the wife has vetoed the La Pavoni because of the plastic lining (she's a hippy from the old school... ) so I'm now leaning toward a Rocky/Silvia combo. Anything really wrong with a Silvia? Anything better in the price range?

all the best,

Nick

Hey! I went to the same school! I had no problems with my Silvia -- I regret selling mine in a moment of silliness... Now I have no espresso machine!

It was a momentary lapse of judgement...
An old friend called me looking for a cheap HIGH quality espresso machine... he wanted a Rancilio Silvia but did not want to pay the real price.
So I gave him mine at a price he could not resist -- and I regretted it. Of course, the only reason he and his wife got in touch with us was because they wanted something. Everyone has friends like this. I never heard from them again - I gather they are enjoying their Silvia.

Anyway - stupid me.

What would I get now?
Hang on. I will tell.
