The carafe for my trusty 10-year old Braun broke yesterday while cleaning. It was very simple, a single on/off switch cone filter drip. But it was a fantastic brewer.
I was horrified when going to the walmart/londondrugs/sears/thebay stores to look at a possible replacement that was simple and brewed good coffee. Not only are there no Braun makers available, but everything else is either cheap junk that will break within the year or completely blinged out.
I am looking for something that makes good coffee, doesn't come with a pile of unnecessary bells and whistles and will be able to stand up to constant use over many years.
The most important appliance in my house is the coffee maker. I work out home and coffee is my constant daily companion. I am currently making cowboy coffee (adding grinds to boiling water in a sauce pan).
Any thoughts on a replacement drip-coffee maker? I looked at reviews on Amazon.com and the Bunn seems to get the best reviews. What are your thoughts? I have thought about a new carafe for the trusty Braun, but it is likely already well beyond the design life.
