MyCafe 850 replacement carafe? was created by jonwz
Hello all, I'm just putting an HD-850 back in service and am having a hard time finding a replacement carafe. Using a 2-cup Pyrex measuring cup is getting old.

Can anyone suggest a replacement carafe? The carafe is a narrow design, standard 4 inch heating base that flanges out to about 5.5 inches wide, and is 5.5 inches tall. Coffee drips in from the edge (vs the typical center drip.

Thanks in advance for any help, Regards, Jon in Tampa

Thanks for the question - I would head over to your local Walmart, or Target, or Long's Drugs (if you have one...) - Not a big fan of Walmart but they do have a lot of replacement carafes.
Check out one of America's great kitchen super-stores - Fantes.com in Philadelphia. They do not send stuff to Canada (yup, you are in Florida...) but they have everything.
Lots of options out there - and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been scouting out possiblities on the web as well, and already tried Walmart as it's close by. I bought a 10 cup carafe that was juuuust a bit too big, so I had to do a return.

The measurements are so tight that without a known recomendation I think I'll end up bringing the 850 to my local Target and seeing if the Medelco GL210 will fit, if not I might have to go with a 4 cup, for example, the Medelco GL204.

I found a good source of info for "exact" measurements at http://www.air-n-water.com/search.aspx?q=carafe&p=2

Quite an amazing story about the MyCafe's getting blackballed in the US! Mine was in the closet for many years as the keypad seemed bad, but taking it apart seemed to improve the connections and it's now working well. That and the fact that I'm now home roasting makes the MyCafe a lazy alternative to filling up some espresso pods.

I've struck out again - Target.com has a rich array of replacement carafes, but the storefronts just sell new coffee makers (after all, it's just more cost effective).

The mail order places have many replacement carafes, but since I don't know if a given one would fit, it would suck to order and then have to return..

So, another plea for advice, does anyone know of a good fit for a replacement carafe for a vintage Toshiba mycafe 850 (10 cupper)?
