I have, a mere hour ago, shipped a Baratza Virtuoso grinder to Dave Anderson in Ottawa.
It is a Baratza Virtuoso grinder with very low miles.
I just received a new one from Quality Coffee Systems in Vancouver in exchange for some web updates.
This one has some minor tweaks and improvements.
I have been promising a complete review of the Baratza Virtuoso for monthes (and monthes) --
Truth is, this grinder is in mid-evolution. That is, it is in the process of improvement and modification.
A natural response would be (should be) - Ok, I have bought one some monthes ago and now there are improvements? What does this mean to me, the consumer?

Well - Dave and I will be adressing that very issue.
Trust me.
Dave should receive his grinder in a day or so.
Then, the games shall begin!

I had a frank and wide ranging conversation with Alan Adler of Aerobie Industries (maker/inventor of the Aeropress):

His observation was - his Virtuoso suffered from the same problem - all the range is compressed into the bottom 20 clicks.

I calibrated my Mark IV virtuoso so the burrs were chattering at ZERO -- even at that, there were (are) 3 clicks of espresso range, about 5 clicks of drip range, a few clicks of french-press and the rest is drain rock!

That is a MM ruler by the way -- 1 millimeter increments

I call it chunky monkey. The good thing is that there are no obvious 'fines'...
